ਫਰਮਾ:pedia/documentation
Usage
ਸੋਧੋThis template is used in the Further Reading or References section of a Wiktionary entry to link to a Wikipedia article. It displays as a single line, including the link to the article along with text indicating that the article comes from Wikipedia (or from a foreign-language version of Wikipedia if ਫਰਮਾ:para is given). It displays identically to {{R:wp}}
, but takes a slightly different calling convention, with the ਫਰਮਾ:para parameter containing the language code of the version of Wikipedia to link to in place of the first numbered parameter.
Parameters
ਸੋਧੋ- ਫਰਮਾ:para
- Wikipedia page to link to. Defaults to the current page title.
- ਫਰਮਾ:para
- Language code of the language-specific version of Wikipedia to link to. Defaults to
en
for the English Wikipedia. NOTE: This is a Wikimedia language code, not a Wiktionary language code. See discussion below.
- ਫਰਮਾ:para
- Specifies a section to link on Wikipedia.
- ਫਰਮਾ:para
- Wiktionary script code of the link in ਫਰਮਾ:para (or of the display text in ਫਰਮਾ:para, if provided). This is used when displaying the link to the page on Wikipedia. You rarely need to specify this, as it is autodetected. NOTE: This is a Wiktionary script code.
- ਫਰਮਾ:para
- Italicize the displayed link.
- ਫਰਮਾ:para
- Suppress the final dot (period/full stop) that is displayed by default.
Language codes
ਸੋਧੋThe ਫਰਮਾ:para parameter specifies the version of Wikipedia to link to. This is a Wikimedia language code, not a Wiktionary language code. The two sets of language codes are similar, but there are some critical differences. For example, Wiktionary has a single language code sh
for Serbo-Croatian, and no language codes for national variants of Serbo-Croatian (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin). Wikipedia, however, has four separate corresponding variants: Serbo-Croatian (sh
), Serbian (sr
), Croatian (hr
) and Bosnian (bs
). Wikipedia also has two variants corresponding to Belarusian in Wiktionary: Belarusian per se (be
) and Belarusian (Taraškievica) (be-tarask
). In addition, sometimes the same language has different codes; for example, Cantonese uses yue
in Wiktionary but zh-yue
in Wikipedia, and Tarantino uses roa-tar
in Wiktionary but roa-tara
in Wikipedia.
